Actually, FIOS is installed and working in towns right next to Worcester, like Westboro, which is 40+ miles from Boston. You still probably won't see FIOS until 2010, but a decade is absurd. Unless you live west of Springfield, you'll be brought to the 20th century soon enough. I'm sure the faster speeds won't improve your fact finding ability though..
