Vonage Pre-Pay?

Has anyone else received an email from Vonage offering a yearly pre-pay deal? I received it yesterday and was debating calling to find out more. It only lowers the unlimited plan to $19.99 a month, but I wonder how they incorporate taxes into it... ie- just multiply monthly taxes by 12? I guess I will call and find out. Here is some of the text from the email:

"Not only is Vonage about helping customers like you communicate where, when, and how you choose – we also want you to save as much as possible on phone service. With new Vonage Pre-Pay, sign up for a year of service and pay only $239.99 for unlimited calling for the entire year† – that's a $59 savings just for making a call."

Does anyone have any additional info or tried this?

I received the same email today.

Abt the taxes, I guess the only way is to call and find out.
This is not a bad deal: good response to competition from others (viatalk, sunrocket)..I (and I ma sure others too) was thinking of switching over to ther carriers. Price being the main deciding factor. They only thing holding me back had been the rock-solid phone service I had had with Vonage for over 2 years.

'll post more once I call them and get more details

Re: Vonage Pre-Pay?

That is going to secure a lot of customers I bet!
Bravo Vonage for bringing a Mathematical twist to the table!

It really only makes sense for those who know it works for them.

Did the TOS have a higher early termination fee?
Or do you just lose what you put in?

And to think I was complaining about Vonage's plan to lock in customers for a 1 year contract. My only issue with this is are we going to get some of our money back if Vonage folds in less than a year? I mean, has anyone been following their stock lately?

Too little too late Vonage. The exodus must be starting to services like Sunrocket and Viatalk who have comparable service and 2 YEARS for 200 bucks plus taxes.... I am on my way out. C YA Vonage!

I only paid $249, with tax, here in California.

Interesting.

I was quoted $290.95 (Illinois) so I declined. Currently I am on the $14.99/month plan. Any idea why different prices?

I don't know why they would be varying so much. Mine works out to ~25 a month, whereas it was ~30 a month before. So $5 off just as advertised.

Received the email with an offer for $239.99, doesn't mention whether tax is included or not. However, what happens if this case goes through the courts? »www.usatoday.com/money/industrie···at_x.htm

You sure they weren't quoting unlimited upgrade?

With the $14.99 plan you pay about $20 per month, including all the taxes and user fees.

I got my email a few days ago for the one year prepay service. In the email, they quoted me 239.99. I'm located in Borbonnais, Illinois. Not sure why the other Illinois person was quoted almost 300.00. I also have the 24.99 unlimited plan.

I wonder, if you're paying 20 bucks for 500 minutes, why not switch to another provider who offer pay as you go plans???
