Lugie join:2007-02-09 Toronto, ON | VOIP call time/date stamp Hi,
I got Teksavvy VOIP service a little while ago and I've noticed that the time/date stamp for calls is off by three hours. I'm pretty sure this comes in from the network (no setting exists in my phone) so I'm just wondering what's going on. The date is OK but the time is about 3 hours early. Anybody else seeing this?

| Ok, what are you looking at, to see the date & time?
I'll try to cover all conceivable bases (I'm on TSI VoIP too): - via the www, looking at my VoIP call records, the time is spot on - looking at my phone, at the call display record - the time again is spot on.
As the programmers say "Works for me" (implying that one cannot fix a bug that one cannot duplicate). |

Are the VOIP accounts set up in such a way that this could vary per subscriber? I'm at a loss because my Panasonic phone has no way to edit the time - it only comes in from the network. I wonder if I have a bad phone but a quick google on this didn't turn up anything. |

I'm at a loss because my Panasonic phone has no way to edit the time - it only comes in from the network. AIUI CallerID info also has the date & time alongside, so it could be a bad timezone on the phone network.
I'd try this: Basically you want to cause a full reset of your phone so try unplugging *everything* from *everything* and remove any batteries from any handsets. Leave the gear like that for maybe an hour. Plug it all back in. Have someone call you and let it ring 4 times before you answer. Often sets will set their internal time from the CallerID time field.
If that doesn't do it maybe try leaving all that gear unplugged overnight.

 | reply to Lugie Hello Lugie,
Is it the LinkSys 2102 from us you're using? If so, there's an option to change the timezone - log in to the 2102 via the web interface, click Admin login, then Router, then Regional. There should be an option there to change the timezone.
If you've got a different device, let us know and we'll see what we can find out... |

Lugie join:2007-02-09 Toronto, ON | Hi,
I don't see an entry for 'Regional'. I'm using the Linksys device from you. Under 'Router' there are only tabs for Status, LAN, WAN, and Application. The only entry in regard to time is in the 'Status' tab and it cannot be edited. Do I need updated firmware? |

Lugie join:2007-02-09 Toronto, ON | I found it! It was buried in the Voice tab, not Router. In any case it was down at the bottom of about a thousand different settings! Truly an interface only an engineer would love (no offense to any engineers out there). It looks like mine was set to GMT -800 (pacific) instead of -500 eastern.
Thanks for your help, much appreciated. |
