2 for 1: Did I get it?

Back in December, I renewed proactively to get the 2 years for 1 deal they ran Dec. 19. They said it would go through Jan. 2/07 (my sub was up Jan. 26/07). They were little off but it did go through Feb.2.

My invoice says "SunRocket $199 Annual Edition with 2nd Year Free: $199.00 (01/26/2007 - 01/25/2008"

Maybe I am bad with math but shouldn't it go to 2009?

Or do I have to hope their computers get it right one year from now and do not bill me again?

What have others experiences when renewing under the 2for1 deal?

(PS Good news they billed me $145 versus $208 to reflect a credit for 4 months service I got back in Spring last year since they can not port my number. I was really surprised to see them get those two issue done correctly so full points to SR there. If it does go to 2009, then $6/month ain't too bad for unlimited local/LD. I paid more just for "Fed Access Charge" for my POTS line which I just cancelled since line transfer could not go through).

I think the key is the start date, which is correct. The end date refers to the end of the paid period, after which you receive no refund should you cancel (during the free year). I also renewed in December with a Jan. start date and mine is worded the same way. Just to be on the safe side I’ll keep a copy of the invoice and the credit card statement.

That's the way SR works. If you go to SR account web and click on plan details you will see the plan start date and in current plan you will see "2nd year annual fee is waived. A USF charge will be applied."

Actually, if I go to "plan information", it says plan start 1/26/06 and the renewal history does not show up. This is different from the invoice history but maybe it takes a while to update.

So I get charged USF in 2008? That does not seem like "buy 1 and get 1 free" but if it is only $8 I guess I can live with $6.10 /month instead of $6/month.

I experienced the same thing..

When you get the 2fer, they will only show the first year as being the length of service, but when you get to the start of year 2, that will be the freebie.

Even their support people question the wisdom of this kind of billing system, but so far, as confusing as it is, it seems to work.

It took me quite a while to get a confirmation other than the boilerplate "thank you..xxx...", but after a bit, I did get a clear breakdown of my account. Because of some confusion on their part with respect to the accounting system, I am now paid up until Dec 2009.
I hope that we are all still alive till then.
