DSL is more like RF than POTS and can easily jump a broken wire, albeit losing some signal in the process. Think of that broken wire as a tiny DC blocking capacitor which is passing the AC DSL signal. -- Toolmaster of La Grange. For "Pompous Windbag", see 419381 |

| That's exactly the explanation I was looking for, makes complete sense. I will run around with the voltmeter and find the break as soon as the snow stops piling up.
I was procrastinating checking continuity everywhere because I couldn't get my head around a way the DSL could still work.
