Two windows boxes (98SE/2000) running Kerio 2.1.5, one running GhostWall (2000), an ibook running nothing, and a WRT-54G router. Probably going to pop Jetico on my primary machine (the one running Ghostwall) sometime soon.

Currently using an old computer (pIII-450) with Pfsense. I was using M0n0wall for quite some time then switched to Smoothwall just for a change. Then settled on Pfsense as it seems to be working the best for me.

Go away or I will replace you with a very small shell script.

Only if you're not using Vista or another OS.

Switched from ZoneAlarm Security Suite to Comodo and haven't looked back. My computer now runs a tad faster too. Weird...

I am using a combination Firewall & HIPS known as Dynamic Security Agent. It's free at...

Firewall -- DSA makes ports invisible to port scans and protects unauthorized entry the same as a dedicated firewall. DSA also contains Private Firewall's layer-3 firewall using Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) technology running in the background.

DSA also provides protection for TCP, UDP, ICMP and and UDP Protocols, just like Privatefirewall.

HIPS -- DSA has 4 configurable/trainable modules in its interface (System Anomaly, Email Anomaly, Process Detection, and Application Security). DSA detects malware and intrusions based on behaviors characteristic of unauthorized system use. Examples include but are NOT limited to the following:

- Attempts to access a protected registry area
- Attempts to access a protected object
- Attempts to Initiate a foreign process
- Attempts to control Windows service
- Attempts to create a DNS request
- Attempts to initiate outgoing TCP traffic
- Attempts to SMTP more than your personal average amount of email
- Abnormal cpu usage for any given process
- Abnormal number of threads for any given process

Thus, DSA has strong Firewall capabilities PLUS its 4 Modules provide superb behavior-blocker HIPS-type capabilities.

I was happily using Comodo for a long while, but everything crashed yesterday and my only option was to reformat and reinstall WinXP. As I just added my regular security programs back in, my CPU kept running at 90-100%. By process of elimination I found that Comodo was causing it. Why, I have no idea since it was working fine with heck of a lot more programs before the crash.

So now it's ZAF for me.

Software compatibility issue perhaps?

I don't use Windows anymore but when I did Comodo worked fine for over a year. Never had an issue with it.

Right now, Comodo 3 Alpha for Vista. It seems much smoother than Comodo 2 so far.

Smoothwall with all fixes, dhcp mod, full firewall control mod, web proxy, a ginormous hosts file and a few others.

Windows firewall on all machines (including my vista business laptop)

coming soon: seperate VLANs: one for wired machines, one for wireless.

That's it

Comodo seems to work great here behind a Linksys router.

Same here. Using Zone Alarm (required) on the work PC, but found much better speed with Comodo on the home machine. Have dad running an older ZA-free on his Win98 machine.
