BayAreaMicro : You don't need to shape at every access point with some products unless you want to go out to every location and manage everything one at a time. Why waste time?

I've tried all that MicroTik, LiveCD, smaller company appliances, etc. etc.... But they failed on support. It may be a cheap solution but required a whole lot of attention....

I personally purchased a Sysmaster to centralize the authentication and manage bandwidth. You may want to try Sysmaster out yourself out in California. Good support and rave reviews. The support is the best feature that you should consider since every wifi appliance requires good backing. I've been left hanging by smaller wanabe WISP companies that claim to be the all in one solution, but I assure you I am a supper happy Sysmaster client. I will be looking into their Cell Nodes next to enable roaming access to replace my current radios and manage all my access points through the Sysmaster system.

If you would like my contact at Sysmaster let me know I'm sure he can work up a good deal for you.

gunther_01 : Star-OS, Mikrotik, Ikaurus, ..... There are many. Depends on your network and exactly how far you want to prioritize traffic. All of these will set limits for your customer plans. And all can be placed on small form factor hardware and sit in a small enclosure at AP location. You got some reading to do, and sales people to strangle.

battleop : A few months ago some of the sales monkeys come to me and ask. Hey can we tier our wireless like we do our DSL? I say uh yea I guess so and that was it.

So now I start getting orders for 1.5mb 3Mb and 6Mb installs. So I go ask about the speed stuff on the order form and they say "Well you said we could do that." UGH! Sales! and they wonder why I never open the door to my office or let them in the server room or the lab.

Any ways does anyone have a suggestion on how to rate limit biased on Mac or IP? My ideal way to do this is to put some sort of linux box at each tower so that I can traffic shape before it hits the back haul.
