What causes the upstream to be too high?

You don't need someone from cox to verify this.....

That upstream power is way to high!!!!!

Your upstream is to high. The Cox network is seeing your upstream as noise; like it is shouting too loud. You need to get Cox out to fix that.

The cable light will be solid with the activity light blinking. (this is what is should be when working normally) And then suddenly I won't have any connectivity. So I power down....plug it back in...and the cable light just blinks endlessly, like it is trying to find the signal. I left it like that for two days without doing anything and then it just magically starts to work again. And then sometimes I just leave it without even unplugging it and suddenly it starts to work again.

Here are my levels:

Acquire Downstream Channel 579000000 Hz Locked
Connectivity State Operational Operational
Boot State OK Operational
Security Enabled BPI+

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Downstream Channel

Lock Status Operational
Modulation 256QAM
Channel ID 1
Symbol Rate 5360.537 Ksym/sec
Downstream Power -3.4 dBmV
SNR 33.7 dB

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Upstream Channel

Lock Status Operational
Modulation 16QAM

Happened again this morning. No connectivity--just trying to endlessly find the signal. Come home this evening and Viola--working fine. Didn't touch a thing.

Signals look pretty good. A TWO DAY outage is something major: What status lights were on during the outage (Or was the modem endlessly trying to sync)? Were the weather conditions poor (It has been raining recently)?

For you to actually lose RF for two days implies you're next to a car-inviting pole, have a very unusual method of a failing modem, or Cox has some truely weird equipment problems.

You're missing the upstream levels in that post

Hello,

I don't mean to bud in but I am having huge slowdows all the time now. I didn't even know you could check out your modem like that. Pretty cool.

Here are my levels:
Frequency 573000000 Hz Locked
Signal to Noise Ratio 34 dB
Power Level -6 dBmV

I'm just learning and would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks in advance!

Go to that page, At the top you will have 2 tabs, One is general status, one is signal levels.....

It's either called Status or Connection, if I recall correctly...

it could be somethings on Cox's end but if you want to know your setup is correct we need to start with levels...

I don't get signal levels when I go to that address--I get specifics for the status of my modem...

But now I am back online again...didn't touch a thing. I definitely think this is a problem on Cox's end. When you don't touch anything for 6 months and you suddenly lose internet connectivity for a whole day, something is screwy!

Hi all--

I have been using COX HSI for over 2 years now. 98% of the time it works. But about once every 6 months or so, my cable modem will lose the signal and I will be offline. I have a modem Linksys BEFCMU10 v3. Last time this happened, I waited for 2 days and then suddenly the modem was back online and I was fine. Well last night, it happened again. I was working on the Internet and suddenly my modem lost the signal. I powered down and back up--no change. I unplugged the coax cable and then plugged it back in--no change. WHY OH WHY is this happening?? Cox has no idea. The configuration has not changed. The setup has not changed. And I have happily been using my Internet with this modem for a very long time. Does someone have any ideas for me? (BTW, my TV cable works just fine) Thanks!
