See the deal is that you would get this card (actually I remember two), one was the Totin' Chip (just looked it up again and that's how they print it...funny I didn't remember it that way) and the other the Firem'n Chit card.
The first was for carrying and using a knife, and the other to build & start campfires, carry matches etc. They basically went to the fact that you understand your responsibilities in doing so etc etc. If you were caught violating those rules, a superior (patrol leader, adult leader etc) would cut off a corner of the card. When all four were gone, you lost those privileges.

No no that would be your Whack-n-Chit card. And for every time you are caught not maintaining arms length radius around you for safety, a corner will be removed.
If all corners are removed your whack-n-privilege would be revoked.
