I had not considered the possibility, but on the face of it, a competent and interested federal prosecutor could very well look at all this as having RICO ramifications.

I think that it is a sad sign of the times that the **AA's have not been seriously and substantively challenged in a court of law. Nothing borderline about it at all. This is straight out of protection racket schemes. Instead of breaking legs, they just use other methods.

What this appears to be is more like law firms and the **AA's maintaining a cash stream by any means they can muster. Like SLAPP lawsuits, they bank on no real legal challenge being mounted to their tactics. Add to that their generous political contributions which serve to stave off legislation that might nip their extortionary behaviors in the bud.

Sooner or later, a Dickey Flatt or Mike Papantonio-type lawyer, expert in the dark and eldritch arts of the class action lawsuit, is gonna rest his or her laser targeting pip on these shysters.
