Business Reality
I think this offering just reflects a reaction to how the broadband business needs to react to the top .01% of users that are sharing 7x24 100% bandwidth with (sometimes for-profit third party) P2P services.
If 99.99% of Rogers customer base uses xxG of traffic and a small minority shares a TB drive to the world, should they sit back and take a loss from this customer or put in a price structure which correlates to what they pay / Mb when used 100% of the time? |

| I think it's a perfectly reasonable scheme, and the fact that they tell you about it up front is a breath of fresh air.
The only way I see trouble, is if you aren't notified when you are getting close to your cap, AND when you have gone over and are now being charged. Can you imagine getting a $300 internet bill? 90GBs should be plenty on a monthly basis. I do think the initial $99 price is a bit high. |
