Yes. The updates have been marked critical. If you are going to need the Exchange Calendar Rebasing took and have public folder calendars I would wait. MS is supposed to release a new version of the tool that will work with Public Folders. Right now according to that webinar, support is sketchy. -- My Blog | Sending script kiddies to /dev/null since 1995! |

| reply to NETSH I am not sure of that myself. There is a webinar in about an hour that I am taking part in. If I find out anything good, I will post it here.
There might still be time to sign up for the webinar:

| reply to elboricua I see that the tool can be used with Exchange 5.5 but I am confused. In the directions it states you have to run the DST update on your Exchange server and there are documents form Microsoft that state that the patch is not available to you unless you have a Custom Support Agreement. Our corporate office also stated that our national rep with Microsoft stated that you cannot update the scheduling within exchange without the patch and extended support. At the time we inquired about it...the rep stated that the patch hasnt even been written yet and it would cost our entire organization $250,000 to get it. So I am assuming this tool that you linked that states its compatibility with 5.5 isnt the entire solution for updating exchange. I am going to build a test lab and see exactly what this tool will do as I am very confused.
I assume there are 3 steps:
1) Update the OS DST (no brainer here) 2) Update Exchange DST (cloudy?)I think this is the one that isnt available for 5.5 with out a Serv. contract 3) Update clients that have old reoccurring appointments (?) This is the calendar update tool that can be ran against the server but doesn't modify the core DST changes in exchange?
Microsoft KB930879 states: "After you install the DST updates for Microsoft Windows and for Exchange Server, all old appointments that occur during the DST change periods will be incorrectly displayed as occurring one hour later. This is true for both recurring and single-instance appointments. These appointments must be updated so that they will be displayed correctly in Outlook, in Outlook Web Access, and in CDO-based applications.
Outlook provides a tool that is named the Outlook Time Zone Data Update Tool. This tool enables users to update their own calendars." .

Exchange Server 5.5 Enterprise Edition To obtain a fix for daylight saving time changes on Exchange Server 5.5, you must first enroll in a Microsoft Support Services Custom Support Agreement. -- =="I am the embodiment of IT"== |

| reply to NETSH I have exchange 2000 in place here. Like 5.5 there is no manual update. You will have to update the servers time zone first depending on the host os. With Windows 2000 it's really pretty easy. Just use the registry key and vbs script provided in the link, and the TZ will be updated. For exchange there is a tool to update the calendars. The catch is that it will not run on the exchange server itself. You need to run it from a client machine running Outlook 2003 and windows XP or 2k3. MS has a virtual machine available that you can use if need be. Anywho here are the links. I have already updated all of my servers. Next weekend is going to be the Exchange calendar....

1 edit | reply to NETSH Have you looked at using something like TZEDIT to manually change the DST settings?
I would be hesitant to recommend a migration from 5.5 to 2003 with only two weeks testing time. Unless you have a very simple setup, this should be avoided.

2 edits | Ok,
Here is my situation. We are still running Exchange 5.5 (will be upgrading to 2003 later this year) We have around 600 users that use scheduling quite heavily and of course we didnt purchase extended support on our exchange box (because we were supposed to upgrade to 2003 last year but it didnt happen).
Down to the question: Has anyone successfully found a manual way to update the time change on an Exchange 5.5 box? Our corporate office stated that to get our support updated and a patch made it would cost $40,000.00 and since we will be upgrading later this year then that isnt a feasible cost.
Go ahead and upgrade you say? Well our IT director doesnt want to do it as we only have 2 weeks to get it done so that is out of the question as we have many plug-ins technologies that requires timely tasks (such as updating the AD schema and building a new fax server) Im kinda stuck in a bad place with this trying to provide a solution that seems out of reach. Our biggest problem is that our AD domain and primary Exchange gateways are housed at our corporate office so we have to work with them to get allot of this done hence making the process more difficult.
Any ideas?
