Re: ArcServe 11.1

I ended up getting the information and finding out no one in the company is familiar with the product.

My problem was that the directory no longer existed, so it wasn't showing up in the drill down. The ArcServe filter options left more than a little to be desired as you have to enter 8.3 file names.

I'm thankful that this responsibility has been pulled away from my group. I'm just worried that the next user who needs a file restored will be out of luck. My normal method has been to use Novell's filer to restore the file. The problem is for some reason we don't have a DELETED.SAV directory, so if the directory is deleted all is lost.

In this case you would have to go back into an earlier tape that you knew the data/directory was present and merge that tape. This of course means the user(s) who lost their info would have to know the date it was deleted (ha ha ha!). So, yes it could take a while of merging tapes to find the correct file/directory.

I wiped the database, one suggestion provided by someone at work. And I did merge the tape, but it still wasn't available in the drill down. I'm just thankful that it is done and in the future won't be my issue.
