dl here:»www.sunbelt-software.com/Kerio.cfm

found first bug-went to backup the rules and S.Kerio just spits out a 0 kb cfg file-tried 4 times
second bug-cannot delete that 0 KB file-get the "is being used by another person or program error".Have to shut S.Kerio down before being able to delete the worthless backup file.

| Re: Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall 4.3.635 well this is fun-still can't get Kerio to export a config file-(all are 0 kb files-last version the cfg file was 688 kb) tried 3 different dls to no avail all were same results.
Tried installing on a second pc I have.Installed (or tried to) on my F partion (3 times).Kerio was installed in the D partion instead (where Windows is installed). Also I tried to import my config file (which I copied from the last version) and all I get is "Cannot import configuration:database error"
Very disappointed that after so long,Sunbelt would actually release something that is so messed up.

| Re: Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall 4.3.635 We've now fixed the issue with the config file export/import. We're going to post another build within a week or so that will include that fix. To get around the issue, you need to change the registration info so the config file gets saved. Just open the wizard and and press next. This will fix the broken config and you should be able to import and export. My apologies for your bad user experience. We have made numerous internal bug fixes and driver fixes to improve stability (fixed a lot of crashing issues) as well as performance improvements (web filtering).
Thanks, Mathew Thomas Sunbelt Software

I upgraded without a hitch as well. I think many folks are trying to import pre-4.3.268 configurations. I tried the same and it did not work. I started afresh with v4.3.268 and everything has worked well since then, including this very smooth upgrade.

| I did (tried) a fresh install. No upgrade.I did not install Kerio in the default location.
On my 2nd pc,I finally let Kerio install in default location D: (default installs where windows is and this is the partition where I have windows installed) and there was no problem-try installing fresh in a non-default location.Thats were you run into problems.
The config I tried to install was from 4.3.268.And as I stated above it was 688 kb.

| Re: Sunbelt Kerio Personal Firewall 4.3.635 Just received a reply from tech suppost saying the devs are looking into this problem-work around is to upgrade instead of installing fresh-
Also told them their import tool doesn't work
we'll see what they can do
like you said BZ don't know when or if they can fix these problems

The problems arise when you install current version without having a previous version installed first.
The install problems were there in the previous build also

It would be better if you install over 4.2.2,that way you should avoid the problems that I have been reporting-I would make sure to backup your most current config just incase.

| Hi BlitzenZeus, You're right about bugs and problems with Kerio 4.1.x. And I know that we've had the product for some time now without a release - until now. Taking over a complex product such as this isn't easy, but we're very pleased with what we've accomplished over recent months.
Please, please, please try out the 4.3.635 release! We have fixed a metric ton of crashing issues and stability problems (some really hard bugs) as well as performance improvements. I really believe this is the most stable and reliable version of this product in its history. We are committed to improving the product and we will be announcing our plans for Vista 32/64 support very soon.
Best regards, Mathew Thomas Sunbelt Software

In short, lots of 2.1.5 users are (almost) desperately looking for replacement now that 64-bit and Vista are "upon us". And, at least from my experience, it's damn difficult to beat simplicity and power of 2.1.5. Tried many, but always came back to good, old Kerio logic and stability.
It'd be fantastic stuff if 4.3 and beyond series can keep these attributes. If yes, then there will be lots to celebrate, both users and Sunbelt. How do you achieve this? Well, do lots of listening here and employ it.
So, keep up good work! Really glad to see a developer participate.
Cheers, SGT -- Slowly gettin' there.

There are a lot of 2.15 users still out there looking for a simple resource friendly firewall to replace it. The newer versions of Kerio that I've seen ain't it. I do, however, much appreciate the support that Sunbelt is now giving their customers and the fact that you've replied here is way above what the old Kerio folks ever did - which was nothing. -- Team Discovery

| I wonder if the new version fixes the issue I had with the firewall interfering with WinXP's themes, either on their own or especially noticeable when using Stardock's Windowblinds. I had numerous emails between Stardock and Sunbelt support people and Stardock reported that several users of their software who were using the Sunbelt Kerio firewall report the same issue. However, Sunbelt, after telling me to set this and set that and do this and that and nothing working to fix the issue, basically told me to forget it, they didn't care that their software interfered with another.
So I had paid for their firewall but can't use it. I switched to Comodo and it works just fine without interfering.

I purchased a licence for Kerio because I liked how it worked and the features it offered. But I've been a subscriber to Stardock's Object Desktop since it was an OS/2 only system, so if I have to choose between one or the other, it is going to be the more stable program, Stardock's.
I'm going to give this new version of Sunbelt's software another chance. I hope it doesn't disappoint me again.

| well,here's another bug-
decided to import the cfg.file that I made using Mathews temp. fix. After importing the newly made config.file and then wanting to check my packet filter rules Kerio shutdown and then restarted.
Opened Kerio (right click icon>config>Network Security>packet filter rules)and Kerio shutdown and restarted.Happened every time I hit the "packet filter" button.Couldn't get to internet or other pc on my network-nothing.Went to install directory and checked config.file, same size that was imported but nothing worked.Had to uninstall and reinstall Kerio and manually import my config.file and only then did everything work properly.
So I think you should check this out-

this build is useless-after updating and rebooting I exported the config file (645 kb) to my F partition. Before importing that same config I checked in my install directory the size of the config file-it was 678 kb not the 645 kb that Kerio exported.I installed the saved config file anyway, went to check my packet filter rules and Kerio shutdown and restarted.Again Kerio acted like there were no packet filter rules.Shut down Kerio manually replaced config file with my good config and all is ok.
Maybe the next build will work correctly.
