Re: FAQ requests to be added to the list... .

Re: FAQ 1 (Basic ... Revisited)
How well written! So often FAQ's have the questions but fail to give a yes/no answer that people usually want (in addition to any explanation/qualification). You made the Yes/No the first part of the answer!

Re; FAQ 2 (FAQ #2: DSL)
About the link to telcodata.us et al. It was actually was you, kind Rocky, who had provided the dslreports-based link to a similar service as the telcodata.us one:
  »Re: Teksavvy + SpeedStream 5360

In any case the relevant link was:
  »/coinfo/clli/
but I'd add a notation in your FAQ to say e.g. "Malfunctioning as of Feb 2007" ... in case the telcodata.us service one day dies /and/ DSLReports gets theirs fixed.

I did email ren_kolka@DSLR (email mangled to dissuade spammers) to notify them of the bustage but have not got a reply nor is the service yet fixed.

Some general thoughts
- these FAQ's are pretty technical .... which is great for the propeller-heads that post most often in this place. If you want to augment what you've got and add in some more grandma-esque FAQ's geared toward walking through someone who doesn't know about NXX's, etc that might serve you well since the low-usage (grandma-esque) customers make the margins for ya.

Some ideas of functionality-based FAQ might be: "I have no Bell telephone service but want to get DSL - how do I do this", or "I want to migrate from Rogers to TekSavvy, what equipment do I need and how do I go though the ordering & cancellation process".

From a purely TekSavvy standpoint, methinks that it would be a great FAQ-answerer to have (perhaps more as a part of your website than a FAQ, but it can be both IMO) is a chart of all 4 (columns) of
- 'Peer1 over Bell phoneline'
- 'Cogent over Bell phoneline'
- 'Peer1 over dry-DSL'
- 'Cogent over dry-DSL'
and then as rows, show the monthly cost, GB usage, NNTP vs NNTP with static, etc.

There's a fair amount of nits that I observe, but that's only cuz I'm a linguistic picker of nits, some examples might be; from FAQ #3 : DRY DSL:
"How do I qualify the Band Rate?"
could perhaps be more clearly phrased as:
"How can I find out what band rate I'm in?"

and

"What types of modems will work with Dry-DSL?"
could be less ambiguous (remember the grandma-esque types!)
"What types of DSL modems will work with Dry-DSL?"

Anyway, methinks that's you were not looking for that level of critiquing but just in case, that the sort of stuff I see (probably more occurrences if I actually look .

Good job on the FAQ's!

Hey BellVictim,

This is perfect... I'll go through what you wrote shortly and add some of this for sure to the main FAQ list!

Thanks for the contribution!
