Changing Tactics

The RIAA is simply changing tactics to try and preemptively cover a strong defense against their increasingly mis-guided war against it's own customers. It's a great defense too.

It would be a nightmare to try and implement what the RIAA is asking for. It's never going to fly and that is a good thing for the consumer. It would be impossible to MAKE everyone secure their Wireless Network. They might as well try and MAKE everyone use a firewall, anti-virus, and spyware software if they use the Internet while they are at it!

I imagine that at some point maybe a Router can be made that really does secure itself with minimal user interaction but even then, you have to somehow find a way to make people do it. I just don't see it happening. I mean something as simple as allowing a guest on to the wireless network for the weekend becomes a big problem for those who don't know and don't care anything about wireless security.

Hell, it's a pain in the ass to add someone to my wireless network since I run my wireless network with every single security option enabled. But I like having peace of mind exactly because of stupid situations like what the RIAA is proposing.

Anyway, the general public thinks only 2 things when they hear the word Wireless. Convenient and Easy. If you add Security into the mix it immediately becomes less convenient to the average consumer.
