Demon UK ISP DHCP Issue

I'm currently using the rules downloaded from the sticky at the top of this forum, and trying to set the DHCP rule. I've read everything I can find on the subject, used IPCONFIG /release /renew etc, checked the unrestricted DHCP log, and I'm still none the wiser. I've never seen a single entry from the Unrestricted DHCP rule in the logs, and contacting Demon ISP's customer support has left me even more confused. I'm using a Speedtouch 330 modem to connect directly to Demon, and am using a standalone non networked PC.

Demon told me "DHCP is Enabled on the router, and we dont provide the DHCP address, as everytime your router connects, our server assigns a random IP address.'', "I would please request you to connect through a modem to our Server, and then Open Command Prompt and then type IPCONFIG, it would show you the Defaul gateway or the server address that assigns you IP address."., However, IPCONFIG always shows my Default Gateway to be the same as my current dynamic IP address. When I explained this to the tech guy, he claimed it was because I was connecting through a router, which I of course am not.

The rest of the chat went as follows:
Demon Rep: What is the Default gateway you get when you connect?
Me: It's always shown as the same as my current dynamic IP address.
Demon Rep: That is your IP address, what is the Default Ip address.
Me: On IPCONFIG, the Default Gateway is shown always as the same IP as my dynamic IP address, if that's what you're asking
Demon Rep: That is correct, you have to use the Same IP address as your default gateway, Your systm will randomly connect to our different servers, with different IP address.
Me: What I'm not understanding here is why do I never see any DHCP activity on my logs, when surely your DHCP servers have to communicate with my computer to assign a dynamic IP; as has been my experience with four other ISPs now.
Demon Rep: Thats because your Modem connects to different Servers and One DHCP cannot be fixed for your Connection.
Me: But wouldn't that mean I see various IPs making DHCP connections to my computer, variously over different connection sessions then? An IP for each of your various DHCP servers? The thing is I never see any DHCP activity at all.
Demon Rep: At times at a stretch you might get the same IP address, but would change without notification.
Me: I don't mean that at all, I'm saying why don't I ever see any DHCP connection made to my computer, as a connection needs to be made to assign a dynamic IP
Me: Anyway, I need to configure a firewall rule to allow connection to only your DHCP server/s. What addresses would I enter for this?
Demon Rep: Enter your default gateway.
Me: Which is my ever changing dynamic IP address...I just cannot understand how you're saying that the IP of Demons DHCP server is the same as my dynamic IP adress, that makes no sense at all to me.
Me: as my default gateway is always listed as the same as my current dynamic IP address.
Demon Rep: We dont support using firewall on Home Package, and We dont have a System to know what the DHCP address is, i'm Afraid you have to do without it.
So, I'm, at a loss. I'd begun to assume that they do not use DHCP servers, even though they issue dynamic IPs everytime one connects. However, it seemed (I think!), that he was hinting that they had them. If that's so, why do I never catch any activity in the Unrestricted DHCP rule? Was he making sense? Come to that, was I?;)

Please forgive me if this question has been asked before, I searched the forums but couldn't come up with what I was looking for. Thank you for any help you can provide, and cheers for tolerating such a longwinded newbie =)

That's the gist of DHCP, frankly. The support person is a bit befuddled, then, as regards how this all works. Go to our old Kerio 2.5 FAQ, and find the entry for "making Kerio log my DHCP server" (I can't actually recall the question it appears under, but if you walk through the FAQ, it will become fairly obvious). That should give you the correct IP for the DHCP server that hands out your address, which you can then paste into your ruleset. In fact, here's a direct link to that FAQ: »Security »Trick: Make Kerio find my ISP's DHCP server for me... ... hope this helps...
