I used to be a member of that church and know for a fact there is a lot of information out there that's bogus. So what I really want to know is what bad things have you confirmed. I can Google Area 51 and home built time machines and get tons of data... hardly any of it trustworthy.

Google? You site GOOGLE as a valuable and reliable source!? How ignorant can you be? ANYONE can post a website and have it crawled by google! How about finding some information with some credible sources! Anyone can say anything about anything on the internet!

Such as aggressive anti-social proselytization tactics. I shouldn't have to tell a proselytizer more than once that I am not interested. Yet on more than one occasion after after repeatedly saying I am not interested and even having the Morman POS follow me down the street as I tried to get away from the jerk I have had to threaten them with calling the police to finally get the POS off my back. I have seen traditional religionists (non-cultic) out proselytizing and they are typically very polite about it. I have never been harassed by one of them. Since this has happened several times now and involved different Morman proselytizers I have no doubt but that they are trained to aggressively pursue converts.

Sounds like you haven't run into any Assembly of God folks in your neck of the woods. Around here they are loud and proud and don't mind being rude to get their point across (at least in one part of town). Truth be told what you're describing is not a Mormon-wide policy. The missionaries are supposed to spread the word and drum up new church members, that's for sure. However in my area there is no harassment of that sort from them. Maybe the bishop in their ward is a bit overzealous about his theater count.

Like any church you have some people who push their religion too far, use it as a crutch to avoid their own issues, use it to further their own greedy ambitions, use it to feed their fears and intolerance of those different from them, use it to look down on 'non-believers', and all sorts of other non-spiritual ends. Remember church was made for man and not the other way around. That means man's limitations will be reflected in his churches.

My neck of the woods is teaming with them. The worst I can expect from them is they will set up a PA in a little park downtown (always the same two or three women) and torture everyone in the area with the most god-aweful "singing" you've ever heard. Other than that I never had one follow me down the street ignoring my pleas to leave me the #311 alone.

"Theater"?? Sorry but my personal sphere no matter how small while in public is not yours or anyone else's "theater" to be exploited, regardless of the religion, mission from god or cause involved. If your religion is legit, if it is the real deal then quit talking about it and start living it. People will begin to beat down your door to find out what you've got that they don't have.

I think you misinterpreted 'theater count'. It was meant for the number of people that have joined the congregation. You know... like how movie makers look at how many people bought tickets (theater count) and don't care how they got the viewers to buy the tickets. As in it sounds like the Bishop wants more members and compels the local missionaries to "be earnest (pushy) and bold (rude) in their Godly mission."

Not sure if you're talking to me directly or just commenting on pushy evangelical practices in general. The Mormon church is not my religion. It used to be a long time ago. I'm a Christian, but I'm no evangelist. I live my spirituality for myself and my family and prefer not to be in the evangelical sales and marketing game.
