Re: P.S. Where is retirerich/TCH? said by RayW:said by Asmodeus:it's perfectly legal for the riaa to defend the interests and assets of the recording industry, Glad you specified the recording industry, and not the poor working artist who sees very little if any of the profits going to the favored few and management. i didn't specify anything... I was just stating what is rather than what people wish... there's rarely if ever in the past of anything resembling a rich or well-to-do artist... artists historically have always been on the shorter end of the stick financially... not until recently or at least within the 20th century have we seen substantial wealth come to artists of varying stripes... art has always been about being the poor, struggling artist who tries to make it big so his art can be seen and/or heard by more eyes and ears...
also, being an artist is a purely meritorious endeavor... if you are good, people will notice, and from that you will make money, but if you aren't and only want to create art for the sake of being a purist, then money and fame will not follow you... it's a trade off and really no one is to blame on ones success or non-success other than the artist... |

My apologies. -- I am not lost, I find myself every time. |

My apologies. wow... how in the hell did you even possibly infer that i said that the that the RIAA are artists... the riaa is a collective group that represents the recording industry and it's artists... i never said anywhere or even implied that the riaa are artists... you are seriously going to have to explain how you got to that conclusion...
all i said was, was that the riaa has the right to defend the interests and property of the recording industry and the artists that it represents... the manner by which they do that is what is in question here, not who is a poor starving artist because of whatever mechanism you think the riaa is employing against them... |
