Re: [OOL] OOL Boost performance decrease when connected to route

PS What's all this talk of getting banned from Verizon? I only know one person, Earl something who got canned for flaming in 0.verizon and cross posting. This you mate?
Mr. Earl Camembert was banned because Verizon was in negotiation with the represented employees at that time. One day after the contract was signed Mr. Camembert's service and relation with Verizon was restored and has remained 100% solid to this day.

Attached is the white sheet and other tech data for the router I received.

David

That looks like the one they want one to use with Boost.

So what down-load speeds would one get? Someone must be using them; many must be using them.

That is an OOL offer, not a boost offer. Streetspirit answered the question about speed.

You are not eligible for the router offer, so don't worry about it - you can't get any speeds.

Maybe they want me back with a router cap.

No router cap, Earl - why do you keep typing that? OOL's router is fine when you are wired. Wireless, it likely can't max out 30mb but no standard "G" router can as the technology doesn't permit it. You'd have to go with a non-standard proprietary G router with vendor specific "boost" technology.

Same with Verizon - a G router provided by Verizon can't max out a 30/50 mb tier when wireless.

You are not eligible for that offer. You will get full speeds with the router.

You can post all the BS you want, or provide proof. Signup, get the router, and show that you don't get full speeds. Time to put up, or shut up. I expect you will do neither.

By your unwillingness to do so, you prove my point Earl. Your ban from Verizon may have been lifted, but I am certain your ban from OOL remains.

Wasn't Earl Camembert a fictional character on SCTV played by Eugene Levy ?

I wish SCTV was still on.. Loved that show.

I know the only way Cablevision let you have service was if you promised to defend them in these posts even though you know it is wrong.

I don't need no steeken Cablevision, Verizon is running FIOS in Netcong. Booooo Yaaaaa.

I asked a simple question, what speeds does one get with the Cablevision provided router?
This is priceless....first you try to insinuate that CV throttles boost performance with ANY router:

said by batterup See Profile :

This is an old Cablevision secret capping trick. Jim figures if you are using a router you are sharing the connection and caps it.
....then, when you are proved wrong, you try to be slick and change it to the "cablevision router".

Not sure why you even post in the OOL forum. Everyone of your "claims" has been proved wrong. You don't use OOL and you are having a love relationship with FIOS. You are obviously just here to troll and pass on bogus information.

I post in the OOL forum because I had OOL and I know how Cablevision operates. As for everyone of my facts being proven wrong that is only for those that do not have the eyes to see or the ears to hear.

My question remains unanswered; Cablevison provides a router with Boost, what speed does one get with that router.

The answer was
quote:
The router maxes out around 12-13mbit downstream.
That is less then 1/2 of the speed one pays for with Boost.

ANYWAY, to OP, your router sucks :P

get a D-Link DGL-4300

I did and I get NO slowdown what so ever. It's like having the modem directly connected to my computer. Just set the router's upload speed manually and set gamefuel to auto and you're set. If need be, set your IP to DMZ. Oh and be sure that you change the router's IP to something other than 192.168.1.1 to avoid conflics.

I have that router (v5) and wireless and wired, I max out my 20mb connection. I don't know where David got 12-13mb from, but I didn't have it as a primary router through the WAN port.

And in addition, that router features SPI which is known to cause home routers to under perform. SPI needs to be disabled on FIOS as well as OOL & OOL Boost in order to achieve max speeds.
