Why all the BPL hate

Maybe I have not read enough about BPL, But what is the big deal. Why is everyone so against this tech. It always sounded like a good idea to me. And for the person that said power lines are unreliable because of rolling black-outs and outages, well even if you weren't using BPL this will most likely affect you in home internet service, so whats the difference.
