blah

The only reason Comcast has hit this mark, is people believe they are being given a discount price or are told it cost more to only have 1 service (not always true).

Many of these prices are only good for 1yr. After that year, lets see how things play out.

Vongage: 24.95 (30.00 after tax and such)
Verizon DSL (20.00 aftet tax & such)
Verizon Phone (because naked is not here yet) - 20.00
Local TV - FREE

Total: 70.00

Comcast phone + internet + tv = 99.00 (130.00+ after your year)

Sorry, I'll keep my 30.00

Good luck with that.

Hope you don't have any problems with them, cause they are worthless. All they do is blame your ISP. At least with Comcast if there is a problem, a tech can come out.

Verizon phone is only $20? What kind od plan is that? I had basic service with VZ before and it was like 40-50 bucks.

When Vonage goes Bankrupt due to total INCOMPETENT management, you'll spring for a real phone.

If you want to compare apples to apples, how much does your Verizon TV cost compared to Comcast TV?

I don't use the line. So I ordered the most basic plan (just tone service) for 12.95 (no free calls, not even local), but I also added their protection plan 3.95 (inside wiring). I use it for my fax anyways (incoming is still free ). Aftet tax and such, it comes to about 20.00 on averge.

Every time I've ever tried Comcast, I would lose connection and there would ALWAYS be nose on the line. Yes a repair man would come and come and come and come again.

I'll keep my Vonage line as well. $34/mo after taxes gives me 2 lines.

Cablevision calls me at least once a week trying to sell me on their service. Once I ask if they can match what I have, the phone call quickly ends.

Wow. I don't think it was your intention, but yours is a classic example of how shedding alot doesn't really save you much. Actually, you're getting completely hosed on DSL. As an example, I'm using FIOS 15/2 and VoIP. If I dumped my cable and relied on rabbit ears for TV, it would only cost me $56/month or about $14 less than you spend on DSL and VoIP.

vonage great except you need broadband.
dsl, slower speeds then cable on average
verizon phone, kinda redundant since you have vonage(i know is not your fault you need to keep).
local, may be free but it is 50-60 channels LESS then the $99.00 bundle. not exactly apples to apples.

You forget to pay your verizon bill and vonage is lost, and vonage doesnt reimburse you due to your isp being out afaik. same if something happens on your verizon line. Cable co. on other hand will reimburse you for downtime.. with exception of non-pay, but that stands to reason.

Technically, my Optimum Voice line is only 15$ a month. Thats only because i have all of Cablevisions services so i get my 20$ discount. But I would have those services anyway whether they offered the phone or not so it was a no brainer. In my case Vonage could not match Cablevisions price for phone service.

This is true, I had a bad install of VOIP (weak signal or something) anyways they sent out a tech the next morning, and everything works perfectly now.

Right... $15 for one line. They would then charge me full price for a second line.

Yea... that's it.

Can you pull your head out of your wallet for a moment and stop to think that for just ONE moment that not everyone is looking for cheap price??

Not everyone shops by price alone.. not every one hates cable and not everyone hates comcast. It may be a theme around these parts - that is true, but this site does NOT represent the feelings of the overall picture of what's really going on in the world.

Many of the members on this site just don't get it.. however, this site (though it used to be a good resource) is nothing more than a rant and bitch board and has lost is major purpose.. (at least in the news and company forums)...

Save your money and enjoy mediocrity.

The only company who gave me worse service than Comcast was Vonage.

Basic metered service is $10, plus interstate sub line charge of $6, a few more buck in taxes and fees and you're at $20 for bare bones POTS service.

In my service area FiOS TV is about $10 cheaper than Comcast for comparable programming. Comcast was also higher on most equipment rentals. After Comcast sold our local cable system to Time Warner, prices dropped so that FiOS TV and TWC are about the same price.

Yes, there is that. But i only need one line. Thats why if i did have to get a second line, i would get a vonage line, unless there was some sort of price reduction for a second OV line.

I'm using "rabit ears" now (don't pick up anything). Truth is we (my family) doesn't watch TV really. Even when I did pay for cable, I only watched SciFi Friday. The other 6 days a week, 26 days a month it was useless.

FOIS is something I'm waiting for. But I'm unsure how well I'll do in savings. 56/month sounds good to me.
