said by Cheddah :Actually, Sony sold fewer consoles than Microsoft in January: A Credit Suisse analyst has Nintendos Wii leading January console sales with 436,000 units, according to a report from Bloomberg news. The report cites January NPD data, and has the Xbox 360 selling 294,000 units with the Playstation 3 trailing with 244,000 consoles sold. Above 200,000 units for January is a decent showing, but it will be hard for Sony to spin its numbers in the face of increasing availability on store shelves. Nintendo, of course, will be happy with their January sales; every indication into the third week of February has the Wii still facing shortages on shelves, so one might expect this trend to continue. While many had dismissed the Wiis new control scheme as a fad, the consoles continuing popularity gets harder and harder to deny as the months continue. » www.playfeed.com/playfeed/articl···2202230/ I stand corrected...I guess they are bombing, they sold 50,000 less then MS in Jan without being able to keep the retailers in stock |

| man where the hell do yall live? Can't find one around my hood in any retail store. Guess its a "big city" console. lol.
Seriously, bombing?
Since when did the console companies start banking on the sale of the console? Of course Sony will push out its units, and of course it'll take over AGAIN, for the 3rd time, and of course it'll make billions off the games...
Business as usual... |

| Uhhh...the biggest order I've heard on the ign and ps3 news sites have been 60-80 for the huge retail stores. No way could you have seen 100 in a store unless it was a lot of empty boxes.
The PS3 hasn't been flying off the shelves but I don't believe in the least the stories about 60 units sitting unsold for weeks. |

The PS3 hasn't been flying off the shelves but I don't believe in the least the stories about 60 units sitting unsold for weeks. I'm not saying they are ALL still there for sale, but they had them stacked in a large circle about 6 feet wide. It was over 6 feet tall. When I go in these days, they usually have 5-10 units on the shelf. Every Gamestop, Target, Wal Mart, Circuit City, Toys 'R Us, and Best Buy that I have been at in the past month and a half has had PS3s sitting out ready to buy.
This report was having Sony blame sales shortfall on customers not being able to find units in stores. That was claimed to be untrue from the report, and my experience (and others) backs that claim. |
