(in Maine) Adelphia also had a 16/2 tier, this was over a year and a half ago. Then I moved south.
I don't think the Extreme tier ever made it this far north. I checked the availability page quite often and Maine was never mentioned.

"Adelphia's networks were in horrible shape, and many users who were customers for years in their areas will agree."

and I can find you more that will disagree.

"The internet was slow at peak times, and the rates were horribly high for the services they got."

Of course you missed the posts that showed the immediate raise that Comcast applied to most of their customers after migration.

Please tell us YOUR experience with Adelphia.

I have to agree with swintec See Profile on this. Adelphia compleatly rebuilt the system in my area. We got HSI, Digital TV, HDTV, VOD, DVR after that. Plus, many HD channels that TW didn't and (I think) still doesn't have in thier Maine markets.

I really doubt the former Adelphia system here is in bad shape.

You shouldnt lump all of Adelphia areas into one generalization. Why?? Here in Maine, the Adelphia system I am on exceeds TW-Portland, One of TW's better performing markets in the country. Internet is running on DOCSIS 2, in fact many of Adelphias HSI network was running at DOCSIS 2.0 for quite some time, while TW is still at 1.1. Digital phone? Adelphia was going to launch that, but the sale got in the way of things so they decided against rolling it out. It took TW no time at all after the sale to add digital phone to our system out here, because of the condition of it. We also have one or two MORE HD channels than TW's own markets up here. VOD we have also had for quite sometime. Sure some of the systems are in bad shape, but I believe the systems being referred to are the ones located in less populated areas.

" The company says there's a lot of work to be done on the networks acquired from Adelphia." Right !!! It also means "dont hold your breath unless there is competition around" !!
Adelphia's property sucks horribly. Comcast also bought them out too, and believe them when they say "heavy lifting ahead". There is a ton of work to be done. Most of the nodes were never split from the days when cable internet first came out, and now both companies want to offer VOD, and phone service, and realize what wasn't done by the previous owners.

Adelphia's networks were in horrible shape, and many users who were customers for years in their areas will agree. The internet was slow at peak times, and the rates were horribly high for the services they got. It's all good though, because you know Comcast and Time Warner are quick to upgrade once they standardize something. Phone and VOD content is standard these days, that will be up and running quick, just give it a few months, like 6 or so.
