Start Over is not "DVR lite"

I wish DSLR would stop refering to Start Over as "DVR Lite"... it's not meant to replace the DVR at all. Start Over is a VOD type of service.

It's a service that allows TWC customers to restart some shows they may watch after the show started playing. It's doesn't allow the customers to store it for later viewing or most other things that a DVR allows because it's not a DVR.

Just read how it works on TWCs website:
or a more detailed description on CT Magazine's website:

you are right. It really doesn't seem to have a wide market appeal. TWC needs to invest in stability (i.e. evening slow downs) on their broadband side and picture quality (i.e. too much compression and low bandwidth) on their cable tv side. Both these should be HUGE issues for TWC execs but I have a feeling to correct these issues it would involve big capacity upgrades they don't want to do.

Start Over is VERY popular in the areas where it has launched.

The stability issues are being addressed, albeit slower than anyone suffering through it wants. Part of that issue relates to the ongoing integration of the Comcast and Adelphia properties in the SoCal region. Same thing with the picture quality issues.
