Pirate Radio

Could this spell the end to Internet radio as we know it?

If it does I think you'll see a revival of pirate radio on the Internet. People have done it for years on the wireless AM, FM, and shortwave bands to flout FCC rules.

I don 't buy CDs. I can't remember the last CD I bought.
Most of the music these days, have MAYBE one song on a CD that I like. I'm not spending 18 bucks (or whatever) for one f**cking song.

Just boycott RIAA-funding major-label CDs, not all CDs. There are a bajillion indie labels out there that are fighting the good fight and need our support.

Indie labels aren't just artists who can't get "real" record deals anymore. There are a lot of fairly established musicians that think the same way we do and either start their own label or sign with indie labels.

been there done that.. the internet is no different.. we want quality programing and the only way we'll get it is to do it ourselves.

i do wonder how this will affect the smalltimer/hobbiest who just happens to also broadcast a small inet radio station.

AMEN!!!

The future of music is INDEPENDENT music - let's face it, the artists can get all of the profit by selling their own music online (both digital downloads and CD's), and there are indeed a "bajillion" indie labels and groups who do it for the love of the music and TRULY deserve our support. Heck, even Prince has been running his own indy label and selling his music from his website for a few years now. The "big five" record labels see the writing on the wall, and are trying to destroy the ants before we eat the grasshoppers!!! The major's marketing and distribution is simply no longer needed. Radio and the music business have been my income-producer since high school, and I see the stupidity every day - the "corporate giants" in both just keep shooting themselves in the foot. In a few years, when wireless internet is the norm, those "thousands" of internet radio stations will have Clear Channel and CBS Radio wondering what happened to their hundreds of billions of dollars, and the major labels will be a distant memory - may I offer the first match to that fire sale?! LISTEN to independents, buy from independents, support the independents, and all you Time-Warner and EMI and RIAA guys might want to stop at the 7-11 on your way home...

and pick up a job application.
