| reply to John Galt Re: Pac Wireless Hor-pol Omni acting strange
The antenna has been in the air about 1.5 years. The pac wireless guy that emailed me back said that he had seen this many times. He suggested that birds made the holes. But i have my doubts, IMO it's just a bad choice of material/design. I don't wan't to gripe too much because this antenna has proved to be a much better performer than any other that I have tried. |

| reply to Stealthwave It is hard to determine what the cause of the tape failure was, but it just looks like it's worn out. I could have been a bird or something, but it just looks raggy and worn out. I emailed pac wireless and they were promt to ask for my address to send replacement tape. |

| reply to John Galt Well I have been down this road with Pacwireless antennas. Mine had holes in it rain wasn't the main problem, it was full of red wasp. I went ahead and replaced it with a different antenna. Red wasp 160' in the air aren't fun.
I did call Pacwireless support and they sent men some new tape at no charge. They sent me enough tape to do 2 antennas witch is what I had. |

join:2006-12-08 Cape Girardeau, MO | reply to AMD Phreak Thanks for the help. I was planning on replacing the antenna, but i was just curious if that should have an affect on performance in theory. Looks like it does. I will replace it and post back. |

| reply to Velosity Damage to the mesh covering the slots will cause moisture to enter the unit. Microwave and moisture do not mix, and the moisture will cause attenuation of the signals.
Can you replace the antenna to see if this solves the problem? I have a good feeling that doing such will resolve your issues. -- "No job is so important, and no service is so urgent that we cannot take the time to do it safely." -- AT&T |

| I have an ap that has started showing a noise floor of about 4db worse and signas for all of the clients at the ap are about 8-10db worse. I am running a Pacific Wireless H-pol Omni (rectangular looking one with the oval cut outs). This a started after a period of heavy rain. I have replaced the AP and checked the connectors on the antenna/line for moisture. The climber did mention that when he went up the tower that the mesh tape that covers the oval shape cut outs on the antenna had holes/rips in it. My question is the mesh tape critical to the performance of the antenna? |
