Re: ebay host file

said by NetFixer See Profile :

1. Use notepad (or any text editor), open your existing hosts file (located in %windir%\system32\drivers\etc or %windir%\ or /etc/ depending on your O/S).

2. Append the following entries to the existing file:

127.0.0.1 ebay.com
127.0.0.1 www.ebay.com
127.0.0.1 my.ebay.com
127.0.0.1 signin.ebay.com

3. Save the modified file.

Thanks, but I was still able to by pass hostfile.

A hosts file only works if your not using any external proxies.

Then there is quite a bit of information missing about the operating system, and network setup.... It sounds like you work in IT, and there are quite a few ebay sites to block...

If you had to create the hosts file because it didn't exist, then you'll need to reboot. After that any future changes made to it won't require a reboot.
