| Sony is taking a drumming..
I'm more of a PC Gamer but even I can see Sony is taking a beating. Here are some recent articles from the Playstation magazine.

| A couple of system moving titles, a price cut, and they'll probably be dominating again. The system's biggest problem remains a lack of exciting titles. They're in a tough spot right now, because gamers like me (who usually buy all three consoles) are holding off because there's just no system sellers.
With games like Mass Effect on the way for the 360, I don't see it changing through the Spring. Nothing on the Sony release radar really wows me enough to throw down $600. But I will the second something does.
All in all, this competition is a GOOD thing. |

Actually, the wait has been a good thing for my budget right now. I'd like to get a tv that can support HDMI first as well. A price cut and some great games would give me a reason to dabble. |

I agree with you both. Once the PS3 has some games worth playing it may be a nice toy to pick up. Problem is that if it doesn't shift into high gear soon, those games may never be developed. Over a million systems sold is nothing to sneeze at but it just doesn't compare to the Wii and 360. |

Just in case you didn't know, the PS3 is damn near a full blown PC. |

| reply to FiL It is a toy, much like a go cart is a toy car. The thing just doesn't do much. When it can do even 10% of what my computer does, then I may consider it something else. As of now, it not even doing what Sony said it would do in the first place. So, yes, its a toy until it can do something other than play games and movies. |

BTW the PS3 does do more than just movies and games. Off the top of my head I know it has a music player, photo album, and web browser. One model is a wireless network hub. The only thing I can think of that keeps it from being a media center is DVR, and I bet that's coming soon.
What more do you want? Create spreadsheets? |

| The fact of the matter is that its a game machine. Its for entertainment only. So what, it plays music. My cell phone plays MP3s. Browser, again so what. These are all minute things compared to what a PC can do. Seeing how Sony has come out and said that you can toss your PC because you can have a PS3, then I expect it to do everything my PC does. No matter how you reason it, the thing is just a very expensive toy. It serves no useful function other than entertainment. |

| Do you feel the same way about the Xbox 360 and Wii? You do understand the concept that these are gaming consoles and not PCs, right? And if you do then why are you even posting on these threads taking pot shots at products you fundamentally have no interest in? |
