You make some great points and all the "Vista Sucks" threads pretty much mirror those concerning XP 5 1/2 years ago. As recently as 2004, there were those who claimed SP2 was the devil... Now you hardly ever hear it mentioned when probably 90+% of XP users have it installed.
I cant remember people complaining about DRM or WGA when XP was launched, people are NOW complaining about WGA in XP by the way.

So I say you are wrong, a lot of the bitching about Vista isn't drivers etc...... it's the way MS are forcing DRM and WGA down peoples throats.

So I guess you guys missed the point completely

PS and no wonder there are so many threads complaining about Vista... take this thread... theres been a multitude of threads in DSLReports saying exactly the same thing... yet the author found it necessary to start another one! Perhaps using the search button would have been a better option.

I agree with you. I never really had any trouble with any of the os' that usually wasn't something I did but I do not think it is all that fair the MS charges what they do for these new versions, and then in 1 or 2 years turn around and shove another one down your throat. yea sure you do not HAVE to upgrade, but if you want continued support then guess what you will eventually have to upgrade. If that is the way it has to be then why don't MS either charge less or put right on the box in letterign that stands out like their dam name that says this product is broken when you buy it and we will attempt to fix through updates, but only for a certain amount of time then you will have to shell out a hundred or two more dollars to have us continue to fix something we sold you broke. I do not think it is really that fair that people who only use the computer for email, web browsing and such have to buy a whole new dam computer just because Microsoft gives up trying to get one os right just so they can pawn off more shit that ain't right. And you can say oh pay attention all day long but the truth is alot of windows users are in it for the pont and click ease so they expect it to work right out of the box. After all that is basically how most software is advertised, as being easy to use for beginners. If anyone of us tried to sell a product that was a botched up as Windows where we would have to constantly offer patches and security updates because the product wasn't working as expected or was breaking other products that used it, we would be in court slap dab in the middle of a dam law suit. Bottom line if your going to sell a product, and for that kind of money and throw this wga shit out there then in my opinion I think it should be dam close to perfect the day it is sold not in the coming weeks afterwards. It amazes me that Microsoft is working so hard on the drm crap but they can't even protect their own shit as reliably but they want to make sure you do not pirate a song or a movie. I think they should spend alittle more time worrying about people hacking their dam windows to hell frst and foremost. let the music and moie companies worry about their own shit.

If that rule was applied, most forums might become a little on the quiet side.
