Why should the ISPs keep logs then?

Why would NSA want the ISPs to keep logs if the NSA already already vacuumed up all that traffic?

It's not the NSA that wants ISPs to keep logs, it's the DOJ.

Oh yeah. I sometimes mix up the Federal Executive branch departments. To rephrase, maybe the NSA should share their information with the DOJ. After all, they are both part of the dept. of homeland security, right?

There was a time when the FBI will not speak or share information with the CIA.

It is not legal for NSA to share information with DOJ. That can only be done on a very specific order by the Attorney General *AND* then NSA is "acting under color of law".

The reason that NSA broke no laws in this instance is that there is a very careful separation between law enforcement and intelligence collection.

No. DOJ is the Department of Justice and it is not subordinate to DHS. NSA is subordinate to DOD and DOD is not subordinate to DHS.

No laws were broken because it is in NSA's charter to monitor International communications for intelligence purposes. Now if NSA were monitoring calls between New York and Boston there would be legal issues.

LOL, Ronpin, that is not what is happening. That is outside of their charter and I sort of think that it would be hard to monitor calls between New York and Boston from California.

But if you have a link supporting this assertion, I'd be happy to read it.

You have this upon reliable authority or did you just pluck it from thin air?

If you can document that you should do it.

Not to forget the unconstitutional opening of first class mail.

Its the Democrats fault. In fact it is the Speaker of House Polosi fault. Everything is the Democrats fault. Everything. Just like Everything was the Republicans Fault when they were in power.

Gee "it would do grave harm to our national security" if I gave you that information. You'll just have to take the verbal admission of the President -- thats what he did! (why do you think the FISA violation is even being cited???)

And you'd have to kill me right...

Again, if you can show a link to that admission of guilt, I'd be happy to read it.

Nobody benefits in these kinds of scenarios by buying into FUD and innuendo. There is entirely too much of that flying around in these lists already.
