900mHz Canopy

Is there any other gear out there that has the same bandwidth, or better as the Canopy 900mhz stuff? Not asking which is better just if there are comparable specs. I really need to go 900mhz and was hoping for better bandwidth then 6mbs (4 actual avg).

Mike

Also I hear people talking about CPE for canopy in the $300 range I assume this is not for the 900mhz stuff? I can only find CPE for 900mhz around 500-600.

Re: 900mHz Canopy

When you compare Alvarion, Canopy, Trango and Waverider, Canopy has the best bandwidth.

Many of the new OFDM 900MHz gear will work on 5MHz, 10MHz and 20MHz channels. We've seen 5 Mbps on 5MHz, 10 Mbps on 10MHz and 20Mbps on 20MHz. Your options there are OSBridge, Tranzeo and Mikrotik.

Re: 900mHz Canopy

I am not really understanding how a 900mhz system will operate on 5, 10 or 20mhz channels, but may explain the specs of this system, »www.demarctech.com/products/reli···3XXX.htm
Where it says the 900mhz and talks about 2.4 or 5ghz, so I am confused on how this works. Any place that will explain this more clearly? And what do you think about this Demarc unit, the Atheros 250mW 900Mhz specs look pretty impressive.

Thanks,
Mike

Re: 900mHz Canopy

Here's the Ubiquiti site for their 900MHz radio: »www.ubnt.com/super_range9.php4

It uses an 802.11g radio and down converts it to 900MHz. So, it can use the same bandwidth and smaller channels the 802.11g Atheros chip allows.

Re: 900mHz Canopy

You can get can canopy connectorized for around $260 or so, you will have to buy in quantities of >= 25.

Re: 900mHz Canopy

That is a lot better pricing then what I have seen. There must be discounts for being a reseller that I couldn't see since I don't have that status anywhere yet.

As for the Ubiquiti stuff, does that SR9 go in to a server? That looks like a great piece of gear as well. Also do you just use that same radio for the CPE? I couldn't find a separate CPE device.
