My first reaction was YES! The original site was one of the most valuable security resources on the Net, IMHO; I can't count the number of noobies who are surfing much safer thanks to his guides (does that pretty much answer your ill-worded question, major marco?). My second was "hope he deals with Vista soon."
Unfortunately, my third is a bit more cynical, inspired by posts in another security forum...are we SURE this is really the original BV? Some have suggested (I have absolutely no info one way or another) that someone else grabbed the domain name when it came up for renewal, not to update anything, but to hit loyal users up for donations and then never contribute anything further.
If this is truly BV, he deserves a donation for the efforts he put into this resource. Any way to be sure? (I hate having these questions; tin foil hats don't become me ).
EDIT: It looks to me as if the domain was registered in 2000 and doesn't expire until 2009, which bodes well for it being genuine, doesn't it? |

I seriously don't understand why people fawn over this moron.
His site is full of information ripped off from other sources, and illogical rants that show at best his mediocre brain capacity.
His, and his adoring fans belief that shutting off services improves application performance in Windows 2000 and XP is a perfect demonstration of the placebo effect in action, as published (and unpublished - I've done them myself) benchmarks have shown that shutting off services in Windows XP has virtually zero benefit.
If you want to learn about Windows, try www.microsoft.com. There you can get all of that good Windows information, minus the stupid hamburger rants.

The "Big Deal" about that site is that the information was easy to follow and all in one place. I could go there when looking for info on machines on my domain and machines in a workgroup. It was the best source for information.
As for going to micrsofts site, that is like telling someone to look something up on the internet without a search engine. Doable, but a big PITA.
