I've been like this for 2-3 days now... Tech support says there are problems in Jupiter, West Delray, North Palm Beach & West Boca...

Any idea?
I have a question? What level of service do you have because if you tell me that you have the "Basic HSI" which is like 256K/down/384K/up then you are getting what you pay for.How much is your HSI charge,$42.99 or $24.99.What does it say on your bill?

PB must be busy!!!

No I have the medium package. I always used to clock 4.7Mb/s on downloads and close to 500Kb/s on uploads. My bill is $43 or something like that....

It does look as if you may have the wrong config file!

FWIW:

The speed test I just ran finally showed my correct location as WPB rather than Kansas City, MO.

Mine still shows Kansas City. What does your IP start with? Mine is 76.xxx.xxx.xxx

Racer, today mine finally started showing the best location for speed tests as San Jose instead of Kansas City, which is correct. It's funny though, I get my best results from their server in L.A.

Edit-We're 170 miles north of San Jose, but that's Comcast's peering point for the North Bay (Sonoma, Marin, Napa, Mendocino Counties) network. I am sure they have others, but that's where all of our traffic seems to go from here.

Its called internet traffic.

The only legitimate speed tests are those carried out on your providers network

Nahh, really? I thought it was called clogged tubes

"It's a series of tubes.

And if you don't understand those tubes can be filled and if they are filled, when you put your message in, it gets in line and its going to be delayed by anyone that puts into that tube enormous amounts of material, enormous amounts of material."

I am not sure what you mean.

Speed tests are subjective dependent on routing and backbone capacity, most of which fluctuates. While you now peer with San Jose, you may indeed be competing with more traffic to that test server. A direct route with LA and better peering can indeed show a better speed result.

Hope this clarifys what I was trying to say.

edited to add.......I believe youtube videos have their own forum.

It is still 76.110.XXX.XXX but the last two sets of numbers changed, within the last two days, from what they were on 3/25 when I first discovered the new IP.

My IP has changed to Comcast and the speeds are fine but the connection keeps dropping once in a while. Pages would not load anymore until i rest my cable modem. And my Vonage wont work!

My vonage is in and out too, I called them and THEY are having problems, not your ISP. did you even TRY to call vonage about it?

I've seen and read about Vonage problems but my service has been rock solid here in West Palm beach area. Hypoluxo to be exact. I hope it stays that way.

RChris173, what do you mean by upgrade? did comcast downgrade you to hsi tier 4/384 from primiere when the network transitioned from adelphia to them? how much extra are you paying you for this upgrade? thanks.

I had 4 / 384 with Adelphia, then when I became "comcast", I got a new IP (76.110.*.*) and 6 / 384. That occured a few weeks ago. Then I called Comcast every day asking them if I could upgrade to the 8mbps plan. I called once per day until someone said the codes were available. Finally the code was available and he put it on my account.

It costs $10 more: $52.95 for 8mbps/786 up.

The auctual speed from speakeasy averages around ~7.6 down & 706 up.

Still no sign of powerboost

Have you rebooted your modem? Sometimes that will do it, it did for me. We (Mendocino County, Northern California) got transitioned to Comcast from Adelphia about 3 weeks ago, and now have both upload and download powerboost, we're part of the Comcast North Bay Network.

Yes I rebooted it many times. No powerboost. What is the best way you test it for powerboost?
