This subject is continue to keep coming up...

The whole reason that this article is on here and this subject will continue to get spotlight is because the the more that content is available on the internet, this is only going to continue being a problem for Comcast. They have to either come forward and tell people what the cap limit is OR lose customers altogether. What I've learned about this whole Comcast affair is that this company doesn't want people who use the internet a lot for more than just email and occasional web surfing. They want an 70-year old grandmother not a 20 or 30-something adult that streams video or uses FTP applications like ICQ.
I don't understand why you Comcast supporters defend this company when their interests are not yours? Why do you have such a problem with them being honest to people? Why do you take the personal attacks? What is an acceptable GB usage to you? Why can't you give a clear answer instead of tippy-toeing on the subject?

Wassup Joe!
I do use streaming services(Joost anyone?) and I also use Zudeo(Google it), plus a couple other private services(don't ask!).

None of these combined push me over 35GB per month.
Now, I do NOT try and download the entire alt.binaries.dvdr from *** newsgroup either.

I use my connection... as a residential connection.

Yeah, I *DO* download movies and music... still doesn't add up to these insane amounts that "some" people are using.

Wonder why that is...

It's not about defending Comcast, it's about being realistic. Users on this site think they are entitled to download however much they want and not have to worry about how it affects other people on their node. When the time comes Comcast will upgrade.

Those of you that have never run a network, you do not understand how much of a headache a bandwidth hog can be. Buffons say just upgrade. Yea, let's put in another OC-3 to support your $45 a month connection so your neighbors can have stable service because you want to pirate all day. Kicking off someone that's costing you money is the easier answer. It saves cash and improves the satisfaction of the other paying customers. It's business, not charity or goodwill.

Comcast has made record profits for the past 4 years now. Upgrading should begin now. I had Cox Communications for 7 years and NEVER had a problem with the service. This is NOT a piracy issue. I am in networking now and I fully understand how it works.
Why is it that the DSL providers can handle it? If a node serves a town, then comcast KNOWS how many subscribers that node serves that area at any given time AND they can afford to provide the equipment upgrades to control the usage. The DSL/FIOS providers do it that way.

Why are you assuming bandwidth hoggers are automaticaly internet pirates? People like you need to come out from under a rock. There are legitimate ways to download movies, songs, and other big files which can make us bandwidth hogger, but that doesn't mean we're internet pirates. Internet paid movie downloads? internet radios? so many more.

The point of the article is not about piracy or bandwidth hogging or network design or business or charity what not.
It is about Comcast NOT being honest with their download cap. If you've got cap, then say so. Otherwise, stop with the lame-lazy practice of cutting people off their services for going over their "CAP".

Wassup Daddy!

I don't download movies (buy 2 DVDs a week actually although nothing good came out last week), however I do buy music. Love music actually. I'm always looking for iso images of open-source software and I communicate a lot with my webcam to buds over here and overseas. I use FTP/ICQ.

(Tried Joost and Zudeo, hate em not that good to be very honest with you. They all need to be overhauled)

I'll give you that on Joost!
They need some SERIOUS new content providers.
What they have is stale(and not very good in quality).

Zudeo... They also need new content!

If you want the truth? Even on ITUNES I've found that the videos that they sell are not of great quality. No thanks, if I'm gonna pay for the content it better be of high-def at least.

I've even tried songbird and while it's ok, i think it still needs work and some refining.
