| reply to Klownicle If you have received nothing from Comcast announcing Blast! is available and don't see it itemized on your bill, odds are it is PB, not Blast. We have had no confirmation of Blast! tier being available (Read the first post, including links in the stickied Blast! topic to see where Blast! has been confirmed.) in Florida and many reports of PowerBoost up arriving there.

Here in sarasota, fl.
I did a speedtest last night, I got 200kb a second upload = 1.5mbps upload. My download is still a flat 16mbps.
Unfortunatly, I haven't had a chance to test it on a long upload so no idea if its powerboost.
From what I can see my download is faster in response. It stills caps out at 16mbps.
Cool thoe. |

I noticed this thread a couple of weeks ago and saw that someone from Charleston, SC had it and so I checked mine but it wasn't there. It was no biggie as I didn't care about it too much. Last night I decided to check just randomly and there it was. Test results showed about ~12mbps down/~1.4mbps up. I know it's only supposed to be bursts, but I wanted to test it out anyway with a torrent. This morning a trailer for Resident Evil 5 came out and I was surprised to see a consistent high 80/low 90 KB/s upload after not longer than a week ago I would max out around 43 KB/s. As another easy/unofficial test, I decided fire up XBConnect and host a Halo 2 game. I used to be able to host around 5-6 XBC clients max, but last night I was able to get 8-10 clients without any heavy, noticeable lag. Good stuff. |

| reply to asda Well, Cheryl is wrong, of course, but you know that.
This has come up from time to time throughout this thread. PowerBoost, both up and down, comes and goes on first this local network and then that one. It could have to do with equipment problems or equipment maintenance or equipment upgrades or even available bandwidth on a local network.
It would be very difficult to find out why you are seeing that just now without managing to find the people who manage the equipment you go through. I suspect it will come back and then go again and ... I've seen that here, anyway. -- Join Team Helix * I am praying for these friends . |

| reply to jasqid rick_(Wed Jul 25 17:31:04 PDT 2007)>just wondering what happened to my upload boost, it seems to have gone away
Cheryl(Wed Jul 25 20:32:22 PDT 2007)>Rick, you will only get the upload boost if you are uploading a huge file and it will not be continuos for the entire upload.
rick_(Wed Jul 25 17:32:49 PDT 2007)>it doesnt show up in speedtests anymore
rick_(Wed Jul 25 17:32:52 PDT 2007)>it use to though
rick_(Wed Jul 25 17:33:04 PDT 2007)>and others ive talked to still see it
Cheryl(Wed Jul 25 20:33:45 PDT 2007)>It will not show up in speed tests, it was not designed to. It was designed to assist you in uploading a 10 to 20mb file and it is periodic in continuous bursts of speed.
Cheryl(Wed Jul 25 20:34:16 PDT 2007)>So every 1.7 minutes you will get a burst up speed if you are on the 6mb speed tier.
rick_(Wed Jul 25 17:34:44 PDT 2007)>um ok, but why did i use to see it all the time and now i dont?
rick_(Wed Jul 25 17:34:47 PDT 2007)>did something change?
Cheryl(Wed Jul 25 20:35:51 PDT 2007)>That I cannot answer, because you should never have seen it in the first place.

said by sortofageek :In the very first post of this thread, there is a link to PowerBoost reports from Pennsylvania. That link leads here ---> » PowerBoost Up In PennsylvaniaBased on those reports and no evidence from you that Comcast has implemented Blast! for you, my best guess is that you are seeing PowerBoost on that download and probably have an initial burst for uploads as well, like many neighbors in your state. But I thought powerboosts was only for the first 10MB? |
