Imagine what would happen if congress decided to switch over to a new breed of car fuel. Anyone who has an older petrol based engine would have to spend 100$ to upgrade to handle the new fuel, no doubt angering tens of millions, having a rebate cushions that blow, but it would still piss people off.
They've already pulled this fuel replacement stunt and, if you were using the old fuel, it required you to buy a new car to use the new fuel. Unless you are real young and were not alive (or at least driving) when it happened you should be able to remember LEADED Gasoline and its being banned to force you to switch to the new UNLEADED fuel as well as replace your LEADED fuel using car with one that used UNLEADED fuel.

Ummm, didn't NASCAR recently run one of its first races with unleaded? And, gee - the cars went fast.

Coulda sworn they've been using alcohol as fuel for longer than just this year (and they aren't the only ones).
