Line of sight equipment can be created and installed in locations more than 8 miles away using a highly sensitive antenna.

This was proven with just WiFi and the same could be done for WiMAX. That means (as long as I am able to get that signal) I shall be alright.

Unlike a physical connection which is a very strict limit and even if you ran your own pair you still required more and more equipment.

It's unfortunate to see new wireless technologies be wasted in areas that are already saturated with broadband internet providers, while some rural areas are still stuck with dial-up. But I guess that's how things work, not much profit to be made out here in the boonies. At least I got EVDO coverage
