smallj53 posted : I've used the 8054 to 5450 mod and it works great. Do you need two 5450's to bridge two networks or can just one 5450 bridge to another wireless access point of another manufacturer? (in this case a 2wire 2700hg-b running its wireless)

mrbill14 posted : Cut and paste from the original posting...

UPDATE:

Ok, so I did finally manage to convert the USR8054 to the USR5450. The firmware does indeed work. Here are my notes:

1) When you flash with the 5450 bin file and your USR8054 reboots, it will now take the persona of a AP by default.
2) DHCP for the USR5450 is NOT turned on.
3) You have to use the supplied utility to change the IP of 0.0.0.0 to say, 192.168.123.254. The utility was not reliable to pick up the USR5450. Maybe it's just my wireless adapter. I had to refresh the utility a number of times to detect the presence of the AP.
4) Once the new IP is set, it reboots and using the utility, you will see the new IP when it detects the AP's presence.
5) Only the LAN Port 4 will work. I used this instead of the wireless as it is much more stable. I did not get a decent wireless even after it rebooted and partly because my wireless was setup as DHCP.
6) Set a static IP to your computer LAN port, say 192.168.123.253 and plug into port 4. Then use the web browser to get the web admin interface at 192.168.123.254 as you had earlier configured for.

Look for a post that was started by "ktulu"
