Re: Twice as much.

Comcast is running ads in my market advertising how much faster their service is as compared to our local telco's DSL. The funny part of the ad is that our local telco isn't activelly selling DSL anymore. They are actively selling FiOS that right now has nearly 2x the highest speed that Comcast offers. I guess they forgot to mention that in the ad.

I guess you forgot to mention that those ads cross boundary lines.. and I guess you forgot to mention that I'm sure the entire are is not Fios served.

Those ads would primarily targeted to Allen country. AFAIK, all COs except one that are DSL equiped also have been upgraded for FiOS. By far the target audience in the urban and suburban markets all have access to FiOS. But what you say is true for the more rural or border areas that are not serviced by FiOS but by Comcast.

The point was that Comcast specifically targeted the telcos slower offering even though something faster and better was available. A more extreme example would be if Comcast said it was 100x faster the Verizon's 56k dialup. While yes it's true, it's also not a real fair comparison for a vast majority of customers who can get quite a bit more then just dialup.
