paranoia! mayhem! confusion! My work here is done...

I sure hope these people don't find out about the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide.

Common name? Are you crazy? Dihydrogen Monoxide is serious stuff, not something you simply apply a nickname to! Dihydrogen Monoxide can KILL PEOPLE that don't know how to swim!

I showed that site to my boss a couple of weeks ago and then showed him the MSDS sheet about Dihydrogen Monoxide. (We work in a hospital and I was working on a project to help give everyone easy access to the MSDS sheets.) Someone apparently took the text of the DHMO site and made it into an MSDS sheet. It's not recent either. It's been there for years with no one noticing.

Would you PLEASE STOP with the "water" comments??? Are we supposed to think you're such a genius because you know about H2O?

No, there are plenty of other reasons to think that I'm a genius.

Seriously, though, my comment was mainly that the DHMO joke was taken so seriously by someone that they entered an MSDS sheet on it. Even worse, said MSDS sheet has remained in the listing for years without someone getting the joke and removing it. (To those who don't know, MSDS sheets allow health care providers to quickly look up information on toxic substances.)

Well if ingested in large enough quantities you can die from too much water as was shown on the NEWS a few weeks back during that promotion at a Radio Station to win a Wii, As a woman tried to get one for Her Kids this way(Jan 13, 2007), Too much water will dilute the Blood in Your body, If that happens You Die, So It can be Toxic and Very Deadly. See the Links for the details on this Womans Death by drinking too much water.

True, but any substance can be toxic if consumed at large enough amounts. I was watching the Food Network the other day and they were explaining how they needed to alter the nutmeg content of a recipe because they were afraid that people would wind up being poisoned. (Apparently, Nutmeg is a narcotic in large enough doses.)
