People aren't dumb.

They see that you only get the cheap advertised price for 3-6 months. Then to top it off cable companies are known for raising their prices regularly. Triple play via cable is no deal. Now the phone company might have better odds, but their technology is more limited and isn't anywhere near as available. But if the telcos do offer a decent triple play and allow you to renew the intro price indefinitely like dsl, they will win.
