Not necessarily. The control of Speakeasy comes under the Best Buy for Business unit and not the consumer part of Best Buy. »news.moneycentral.msn.com/provid···=6670010
That Best Buy For Business ( »www.bestbuybusiness.com/bbfb/en/···BAboutUS )unit deals mostly with small businesses and undoubtedly that unit will try and use Speakeasy to market internet access to these small businesses that the Best Buy business unit deals with.

Of course, Speakeasy's dealings with small individual customers may suffer as a result of the new small business oriented emphasis.

Speakeasy has been going down the tubes for some time now. In fact, I'm betting that the reason Best Buy bought them now is because the customer service offered by both entities is no equally bad.

I hope you are right. I've never dealt with Speakeasy, but I've heard good things about them for years. It would be a sad day if the last large customer oriented ISP changed direction due to the purchase.

Agreed on the possible optimism for the business side of things. The VOIP offering is likely the 'jewel' Best Buy seeks.

Agreed, as the spiral had already begun over the past year or two. Still pretty good support when called in, but a lot of other aspects have been lacking. If Best Buy can improve it, fantastic! Sadly, it seems unlikely from their past integrations.
