When you think of it...

...it's the perfect way to complete Speakeasy's transition to a Business-centric model. How many residential server geeks immediately started thinking about alternatives when they saw this in their inboxes this morning?

Hopefully I'm jumping the gun, but the wording of that press release sure made it sound like the SE we all loved so much back in the day has finally bit the dust.

I'll miss 'em.

I'm just counting down the minutes until they do something stupid.

This is all rather annoying, since in my area, the alternatives are Bellsouth or TWC, or other ISPs like Earthlink using that wire and/or routs.
At the moment, I have both Speakeasy and Roadrunner.
I can't get better upload where I am than with Speakeasy, and their policies have always been nice. I didn't mind paying a bit more than some for this reason. TWC here is still at either 384 or 512 kbps up, depending on which plan you have, vs. the 768 I get with Speakeasy, even though I can only get 1.5 down without stability issues due to my distance from the CO, which is why I've supplemented with another ISP. I think when TWC finally decides to upgrade their tears here, I will drop Speakeasy and move my servers to a Co-lo. I'd been wondering about the best way to do this, and now I think my questions are about to be answered... I will certainly miss it, though. I like my reverse DNS and static IPs...
