PowerBoost former Adelphia area (Mendocino Co,NorCal), when?

Our email and account were transitioned to Comcast this weekend, with the network switchover from Adelphia to Comcast taking place last night. As I understand it, PowerBoost should be automatic when they update the system for Comcast, but I've done a ton of speed tests, and the best I can do is 6300 down, and uploads are at 360 (I used to get 850 with Adelphia, we had the Premier Tier, 6000/768), so obviously no PowerBoost on the upload either. They said the 8000/768 tier isn't available here yet, could that by why? I'm in Mendocino County in Northern California by the way, we're now part of the Comcast North Bay network (Marin, Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino Counties).

The 6000/384, 6000/768 & 8000/768 tiers have PowerBoost if available in your area.

That's weird, I wonder why I'm not getting PowerBoost? I know the 8000/768 Tier isn't here yet, but the 6000/384 is (the one I'm on) is, I'm not sure what others are here.

Sure, sure, come on, you're witholding information, man, where's Sam Irvin and the Watergate team when you need them LOL

I wonder if they still need to upgrade the CMTS to handle PowerBoost and the new Tiers, though I would think they did that when the transition took place last night, mysteries unsolved.

Ok, I'll tell ya. It's because all the Boost ran out in the State. Only enough for SoCal.

Yep, we're now completely off of the legacy Adelphia network, being routed from Ukiah through Sonoma County (our southern neighbor) and into SF, local routing finally. Here's a traceroute to our local college, Mendocino CC, in Ukiah-

We also have Comcast IP's and Config Files, Adelphia is officially dead and buried here.

Now that you're fully transistioned, an occsional reboot is in order. (here at least a manual reboot/power cycle was required for PB up, don't remember about PB down)
Since they seem to have taken you off the old Adelphia equipment (or renamed it) I'd think your area would get PB fairly quickly.
That routing seems alittle odd running down to San Jose and back, but Sanjose seems to be a a favorite CC peering point for much of the west coast

Thanks, I'll try rebooting my modem and see if it makes a difference.

I think the routing is probably normal for this area, we're on the North Bay Comcast Network now, and as far as I know all of the peering takes places in SF or San Jose, which hands down beats the old Adelphia method of sending us clear down to L.A. to get to their backbone!

Well, I rebooted and still no PowerBoost, I guess they haven't enabled our area for it yet.

Re: PowerBoost former Adelphia area (Mendocino Co,NorCal), when?

This is weird, Comcast is telling me PowerBoost is here, but I can't get it, and I've tried everything. I guess I'll give it a few more days, maybe they have to put the software in the CMTS or something.

I just noticed this on the Comcast network status for us-

Other Features/Services Outage Alert Start Time: Mar 30 2007 11:10AM EST
There is a known issue currently affecting certain features or services available to Comcast customers in your area. Our engineers are currently onsite and are working to resolve this issue. We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause.

I wonder, could this be why we aren't getting PowerBoost? We've been having speed issues every evening as well.

I noticed today that PowerBoost seems to have kicked in, as well as a new config file (I miss my old 7235/926 config ). PB may have been implemented earlier, I don't download very often so this was the first time I saw it. I also noticed that I had a completely different IP address, which would explain why I couldn't remote desktop in from work a couple of days ago .

I tried seeing if PB was working on speedtests as well, and it seems like it does, to a lesser degree than what I was seeing on BitTorrent. I'll have to try it late tonight when it's less congested.

How did you end up with 768 UP on your provisioning?? I'm still at 6600/384, we had the Premier Tier and the same config you did under Adelphia, now we have this-

Downstream Channel

Lock Status Operational
Modulation 256QAM
Channel ID 0
Provisioned Rate 6600 kbps
Symbol Rate 5360.537 Ksym/sec
Downstream Power 3.2 dBmV
SNR 39.5 dB

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Upstream Channel

Lock Status Operational
Modulation 16QAM
Channel ID 3
Provisioned Rate 384 kbps
Symbol Rate 2560 Ksym/sec
Upstream Power 42.0 dBmV

The best I am getting in downloads is 6200, uploads run about 350, I don't understand what's going on. We're still not seeing PowerBoost out here either, and I'm only 8 miles north of you...confused..Powerboost comes from the headend, and since we're both on the same headend in Ukiah, both of us should be seeing it, now I'm really confused.

Edit-I just rebooted my modem, same config file. Either they are doing this modem by modem, or something's screwed up Oh, you need to change your providers on your page, Adelphia's gone

Edit2-I noticed your upstream is on channel 4, while mine is channel 3, weird. I guess I could try hitting the reset button on my Linksys Modem and see if that changes anything.
