| Another site goof by Apple?
I spotted this in an article and went to the site to see if it was still there and low and behold it is.
The quad core slip that hit the UK store site a week or so ago seems to be creeping back in when they're talking about the release of Adobe's CS3 on the US site.

Does this mean that two dual core processors = quad core? -- "When the day comes that anyone can bend our country's laws and lawmakers to serve selfish, competitive ends, that day democratic government dies." -- Preston Tucker, June 1948 |

| reply to BellBoy For Apple "Quad core' Means there are four cores total in the machine.
Now they can use those CPU with 4 core on 1 chip and they can do the same marketing, but they only have to buy one chip, not two, to be able to make such claims. -- Am Heimcomputer sitz' ich hier, und programmier' die Zukunft mir |

Yeah but the marketing copy reads "dual-core or quad-core Intel processors" which clearly states an Intel quad-core processor and not two dual-core processors. The quad-core processors have been available for months and in my opinion Apple's high-end boxes are overdue for a refresh that includes quad-core goodness. |

| My guess is a big product refresh around the time of Leopard. Probably see several macbook and desktop products get updates at the same time. Maybe those minis will finally get something better than a yonah -- »web.mac.com/jwsmiths/ |

| reply to BellBoy Well, Apple has been calling the dual-socket, dual-core Mac Pro "quad core" since its release, so it's not too out of character for Apple.
More interesting to me is the use of "multi-core". Intel specifically uses "dual" when talking about two of something and "multi" when talking about more than two. So on servers, "dual processor" meant exactly two, "multi processor" meant four, eight, sixteen, one thousand twenty four, whatever. Obviously, Apple already uses their own terminology, but as an Intel-head, the use of "multi" is interesting. |
