Ridiculous. If they were required to offer service to every rural farmhouse in the state as a condition of offering service to anybody, they'd not be able to serve anybody and still make a profit.

It's a stupid argument, and I'm glad that they saw through it. As I understand it, the Iowa bill does have buildout requirements, but not the absurd notion of 100% availability.

We're not talking POTS or electricity here, only non-broadcast television; there's really no need for the government to get involved in offering a non-essential, luxury entertainment service beyond working out right-of-way issues.
