en102Canadian, eh? join:2001-01-26 Valencia, CA | Well, I can say that Sprint's iDEN blows chunks... best I get is ~ -90dBm, coverage a few miles from me is non-existant (on the way to Costco no less), and the only place I get good service is at HomeDepot. |

Boost? Who cares! What does that crapy ghetto of a product line have to do with ANYTHING other than make Nextel users look like low lifes.. It's also a pretty new service which doesn't change ANYTHING.. and I believe that the ghetto service markets to major cities.. and NOT the barnyards of America. my point remains. NEXTEL is and has always been a business service and they have always services the major metros.. NOT THE BOONIES where they are less likely used. It's also a pretty new service which doesn't change ANYTHING.. and I believe that the ghetto service markets to major cities.. Boost has been around for many years. It's main point is for people who want to use Nextel's Direct Connect service, without having to get locked into a contract.
my point remains. NEXTEL is and has always been a business service and they have always services the major metros.. So? I have used them all for both personal use and business.
NOT THE BOONIES where they are less likely used. Why do you keep blathering on about the boonies. In my first post, which you must not have read, is specifically said not in the boonies, which must mean a metro area.
Hard to swallow that? Why would it, you keep posting things to back up my point, and you keep rambling on about something I'm not even talking about. |

And my personal experience with Sprint coverage maps is that they took a page from the "FCC Broadband availability" book. You can't compare Spring and Nextel as they are two different nets. Nextel is GOING to have "horrible" coverage on a nationwide scale.. they are and have always been for business and they have always served the major metro areas.. not the boonies. To be fair, it can be said the same against VZ/ATT.. in Sacramento, downtown area, and first outter ring of the city, those two SUCK and Sprint/Nextel rock. It all depends on a few things.. Agreed.. I use Nextel and have not had any coverage issues in N Cal at all.. even the farm lands are covered quite well.. of course YMMV -- Webmaster - Steve - - - - - - - - - - - - »ppnhosting.com »www.1-gb.net »pokemonpalace.net |

1 edit | reply to Albatross6 The western Kansas coverage is not technically theirs. It is through the Sprint roaming alliance. 2 local carriers cover that area for Sprint. |

 | reply to tpac_man I left Nextel after 2 years because of the Sprint takeover. I have a few friends who used to work for Nextel and still have collegues there. They are hearing that Sprint is not putting any money into the iDEN infratructure. They are simply letting it die.
As a result of the poor coverage, Nextel users are literally ruunning away. T-Mobile has been a huge beneficiary. That's where I went and couldn't be happier with my MDA Windows Mobile 5 phone. -- "Doublethink means the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them." -- George Orwell, Nineteen Eighty-Four.

 | reply to Albatross6 Probably not, but the cattle might.
Seriously though, you might be surprised how many farmers are using cell phones. There are areas it is miles between houses, and a cell phone is the only communication. |

That is so obviously false where did you pull that from? Then prove me wrong...If you lay the evidence out in front of me I am not afraid to admit I was wrong. I have personally looked at the maps and from what I see Sprint appears to have the better coverage. In Texas Verizon's coverage is literally laughable. Then Sprint still beats Cingular here too. MCI's failure of a venture into wireless was entirely Sprint's network. |
