| 3com wireless problem with Vista...PLZ HELP!!!
I have a 3com wireless router...
and a 3com wireless usb dongle...
and have just upgraded to windows Vista Business edition. I am having awful problems trying to connect to the wireless network using vista itself. The dongle works, as the network is detected...the problem is that with WPA-PSK authentication...vista never connects...If i change to WEP...it connects fine....but i would really like to be able to use WPA-PSK as it is much more secure.
I have tried everything I can think of, fiddling with windows firewall...turning it off completely...i cant think what to do..its so frustrating that it connects to WEP but not WPA....has anyone experienced this?
also, since upgrading, the 3com wireless client software (which came with the usb dongle) no longer works ( I used to use this software to connect to the wireless network). Now, when I try and open the software, the window appears...but instantly disappears again...I have tried uninstalling & reinstalling the sofware & drivers...but this still happens...if I could get this working I wouldnt care about vista blocking the connection...does anyone know anything about this???
please help...thanks in advance

| Vista has far too many problems to be productive and IMHO (based upon 35 years experience in IT) Vista really isn't ready for PRIMETIME, so I recommend reinstalling XP.
It is very likely this isn't the only problem you are going to run into in the next couple of months.
I had Vista Business installed on one machine, but I replaced it with XP and I won't likely re-install it until SP1 or maybe SP2 has been released.
Oh and by the way, I am a Microsoft Partner and have worked on PC's since DOS 2.0 and I wouldn't sell Vista to any of my customers.
BTW, WPA is the right way to go, because anyone who uses WEP is insane. |
