You can also get it free OTA. But not everyone wants a mini oil rig outside their homes, holmes. |

My neighbor uses a normal TV antenna for his HDTV. That is the only reason he keeps it in shape, or so he said when I asked why he had that and the dish. -- I am not lost, I find myself every time. |

1 edit | I'm in a canyon, sort of. I tried with regular antennas but they don't pick up jack.
I would need something like whats shown in the photos to get the OTA HD's.
Plus, I don't think the cable co's are giving away A&E HD, ESPN HD, TNT HD, HBO HD, etc for free in their regular programing unless you subscribe to the HD packages. |

| Your neighbors can't say diddly. The FCC says you are allowed to mount an antenna onto a tall mast to receive the signal, as long as you have an exclusive use area and can get safety permits (required if over 12 feet tall).

Works best if you live in tree hugging California. |

| reply to djrobx Odd, I have an antenna up 30 feet, my neighbor's TV antenna is up about 35 feet, a guy down the street has a ham antenna up 60 feet, no permits needed. Now if we put up a tower like the one in the picture, then that is another issue. (of course, the guy with the 60 foot high antenna just happens to be the chairman of the CC&R committee and currently the only 'active' member). Just to balance out things, a guy I know with a 180 foot tower had to get permits on his 1 acre lot, but that is another tale. -- I am not lost, I find myself every time. |
